Description

Traditionally, Kundan jewellery was made of pure gold. It was originally an Indian form of art, where the artists and jewellery combined their knowledge and skills and presented beautiful Kundan jewellery to the people. Even today, many Indian households have safely secured the traditional Indian Kundan earring set made from gold. This has been passed on to many generations and is a valuable asset today. It is essential, not only in terms of the gold but also because it safeguards the rich heritage of Indian society.

While creating Kundan jewellery, uncut diamonds and other semi-precious stones are carefully placed within the gold to create beautiful designs and patterns. Once the stones are placed, a base of gold is prepared. Once the layout is ready, the framework is laid out. This is known as Ghaat. After the framework is ready, hot wax is poured into the framework. Then, the uncut stones are fixed. Once everything is done, the artist carves delicate designs and patterns to make the Kundan jewellery more attractive and real. After the design, the gold or gold foil is poured and then cold cured to set. Ideally, the kundan jewellery design is done by hand to give it a more authentic and realistic look.
